DR Herbert Kuhnert Collection:
The Marble Museum was fortunate to receive an early collection of German letters, photographs,
and artifacts concerning German marble research. Roger Miller originally did the research in
the 1960s. This collection includes an original 100-page manuscript about the history of Elias
Greiner Vetters Shon written by DR Herbert Kuhnert, the son of the founder of Kuhnert Glasshutte.
The Vitro Agate Company Collection:
The Marble Museum has received the surviving Vitro Agate Company archives donated by The Dolton
Family. The collection includes over 100 historical company photographs, marble machine
blueprints, 100s of letters and artifacts that give a rare look into the most successful and
oldest American marble company.

Glass Art and Marble Art:
The Marble Museum still has a large focus on collecting contemporary glass art orbs and marbles,
hand painted contemporary china marbles, contemporary marble memorabilia, and marble subject
paintings. We would like to thank the dozens of artists and collectors that have contributed
to our museum project. Thank You!
Photograph Restoration Projects:
We have been able to restore dozens of historical National Marbles Tournament Photographs. We
are currently restoring the Elias Greiner and Kuhnert Glasshutte photographs. Negatives and new
enlarged prints are made of each picture to preserve the history and intrigue of times gone by.
Newsletter:
The National Marble Museum TM newsletter continues to offer the best newsletter for the marble
collector. Filled with informative new articles, information and pictures which can be found
no where else.
Coming in 2003 and 2004; the organization has received permission to reprint the American
Dialect Society’s two articles on marble "words". The articles are a treasure of information
collected in the 1950s. You will have fun reading, "The Vocabulary of Marble Playing" by
Kelsie B. Harder and More Marble Words by Josiah H. Combs.
There will be articles and pictures on new marble discoveries, marble history, and contemporary
glass artists. Take a look into the former Ravenswood Marble Company and into the inventions,
marbles, and games of Art Fisher and The Vitro-Agate Company. Discover the wonderful world of
marbles become a member today!
Web Site:
Ralph from Glasswurx is a valued museum member that has
been volunteering his time to create new web pages for the web site. His creativity, energy, and
knowledge of web development will help to continue to make this web site one of the most visited
sites about marbles.
Building Plans:
After more than a year of collecting artifact and art donations for the museum, we are ready to
search for a building site or space to exhibit these wonderful collections. We are looking for
something in the MT Shasta or Yreka area of Northern California. Travelers from Mexico to
Canada will be able to see the exhibits sometime in 2003 or 2004. 17,000 vehicles pass through
the beautiful Shasta-Cascade area every day.
Thank you for taking the time to read the current news about the museum. You can view older news
